The web is largely about human behavior. It was really easy to say that video was going to be a big thing 10 years ago, but it was youtube that discovered people wanted to watch short clips on break at work.

I don't think there is anything out there that can compete with the experience that cable currently provides (bundling, the guide function which might be one of the best discovery tools in existence, etc).

Re: I want my MTV on Apple TV

Jeremy I agree with you that with 20m homes msft is a viable threat to cable. Today's technology is attractive, yet cannot replace the "trained" eye and the educated assessor. It's about the fit, the possibilities and the match. It's not about the identification of candidates. That is the easy part.

Re: Introducing Stickybits

Stickybits is a great app. One annoying this is how small they are. It's hard to make them stand out in a room when they're only 2 inches wide. To solve that problem, I created the world's largest Bit (an individual Stickybits barcode). It's 8ft x 6ft. There's also a .psd template to make your own. Enjoy!

To move from the chronos of the industrial age to the kairos of the intelligence age requires a greater diversity of minds. Developing young minds is a core essential part of development for the emergent economy of this kairos age.

Quite often the subordinates are much more helpful than bosses, but a good 360 view is always the best. This can save startups hundreds of thousands, and earn millions. Learned it the hard way over last 15+ years. Of course reference checking usually mostly helps if the new job is pretty similar, although you do learn many personality traits.

Recruiting advise is one of the key things for VC's to help their startups with.

Re: eReader vs the real thing?

Here's a nice article discussing the future of publishing. I, just like Jon, we'll be doing both. An interesting question is when the child is exposed to both, will she want the iPad or physical version of the book, especially if the iPad version has a few bells and whistles?

Re: Entrepreneur DNA

I couldn't agree more with both you and Fred about the nature vs nurture debate regarding entrepreneurs. I think 3 out of the 4 traits you highlight really separates potential successful vs unsuccessful entrepreneurs. The "ability to accept risk without the big safety net" is a trait that probably does a better separating the entrepreneur vs non-entrepreneur.
